investing in the future

It's been a while, but finally I 'm back with some news from the photography front. Business has been great in the last couple of months. I have the impression that my hard work is paying of! Lots of assignments from as well business as private clients. Since I would like to continue to grow I decided I needed to do some investments. Upgraded my software with Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS 5, bought a new harddisk as an extra backup for al my precious images. Also invested in a Wacom tablet for more precise adjustments in the postprocessing of images.
More and more I have been feeling the need for a larger and more professional studio space. Therefore I am now collaborating with a perfectly equipped studio in Drongen to be able to welcome clients, make up artists, models,... in a very comfortable way.
Also, I bought a new Nikon full frame camera as a backup for my beloved Nikon D3. Just want to make sure I don't get in trouble if ever the D3 malfunctions...
Here's a slideshow with some recent favorite wedding images. For more images and information please visit http://www.positief-online.be/ My website is regularly updated with new images. Even though september, october and november will be very , very buzy, I 'll make sure to keep my blog up to date with more news. Take care, Kris

first cover!

Very proud to say that one of my images is used as the cover of "Weeked Knack's" promotional adjunct. The same image serves as this month's theme decoration in al of "Standaard Boekhandel's" shops.
Another one of my (food) images appears in the great new book "Foodprint" which covers many different aspects of everything that has to do with... food and gastronomy in belgium.

work in progress

Lately I have been working on a cookbook for a television show called "komen eten". The book should be in the shops in a couple of months and I am looking forward to it very much. It's my first similar project and I 've learned a great deal. Not only the technical aspect, but also about dealing with my clients and their wishes, and the huge amount of work that comes with a job like this... (altering menus, buying ingredients, styling of the dishes, cooking...) Here's a small selection of images. In total I am making 66 dishes for this book.

Also, next month, an image I made will be used in the Shops from Standaard Boekhandel for their monthly theme. I did this shoot with two children "models" in my studio. The theme was communion. The same image will be used on the cover from Weekend Knack magazine. Exciting times!

experimenting with photoshopped backgrounds

I recently started experimenting with adding photoshopped backgrounds to some of my images. Especially for photos from kids this can ad an extra dimension. Some images can be seen below. Some more are on my website.

sports

last weekend I had the opportunity to shoot an athletics meeting at "Topsporthal Ghent". It was the first time I shot a sports event like this. At this meeting for children I focussed on Emma, who ran the 60 m sprint. I was quiet happy with the result from my 70-200 MM Nikkor lens.

exhibition

Last weekend I had an exhibition of some images from my 2009 trip to Scotland. I showed some canvas prints 60 x 90 cm of landscapes and got some great reactions. Special thanks to Reggie Picavet for offering me the space on his "Schotse beurs"!

Recent and future jobs

After my trip to Myanmar it's been a bit more quiet. Here's the results from a couple of shoots. You'll see images from the shoot with baby Zoë Sophia. This shoot was done in the clients' house. There are also 2 images from the shoot with Helena and Kasper, taken in my studio on a white background. I also did some work for my friends from "Voor 't Labo" in eeklo (http://www.voortlabo.be/). We had a lot of fun doing a groupshot of all the personel. They also asked me to take some images of the glasswork they make.
reservations for marriage shoots have been very good so far. There's also several communion shoots (thanks Els, for transferring the schools in Sint Amandsberg to me) and private shoots, a 2-day shoot of a big event in Brussls expo, a shoot of an event at Laborama, and some unconfirmed but very exciting prospect for an assignment for a culinary book, and a shoot for Remy-Cointreau in an Antwerp bar.
You can expect more regular news on my blog again from now on.

some images from my trip to Myanmar

Due to a stay abroad it's been a while since I posted images from my work. Here's some images I took in Myanmar with my brand new Canon S90 (usually I work with Nikon, but they don't have a comparibly good compact camera).
